Intimate Dinner – Michelle + Felix

We’ve always had a soft spot for intimate weddings, and our sweet Gold Coast hinterland celebration for Michelle and Felix was no exception. Taking place at Hillview Homestead, these two wanted to host a romantic dinner party under the stars for their closest friends and family, with a focus on quality details, cultural traditions and meaningful moments.

Surrounded by a spectacular backdrop of lush mountains and heritage-listed national parks, we decided to let the natural beauty of the venue shine through by taking a “less is more” approach. We styled a simple, elegant ceremony space using classic white bentwood chairs against an abundance of greenery and golden leaves. Guests were greeted at the ceremony with baskets of flowers and small treasures, each being invited to take an item to adorn the altar where Michelle and Felix would stand. What made these nuptials extra special (and one of our favourite memories from the day!) was the inclusion of a traditional Chinese tea ceremony – a beautiful gesture to symbolise respect and gratitude towards both families.

Guests enjoyed cocktails by the pool amongst a mix of rattan lounges, wooden dry bars and earthy textiles, while we flipped the ceremony space into a dreamy outdoor reception. Inspired by muted tones of oatmeal, sage and terracotta, we designed one long communal dining table to create a warm, intimate vibe.

With Michelle and Felix sharing our love for beautiful details, we incorporated elegant amber glassware, two-toned flatware and raw linen runners, contrasted against simple arrangements of dried florals and Australian natives. As day turned to dusk, guests enjoyed a meal under the stars with festoon lights glittering overhead – the perfect end to an incredible celebration of love, culture and family.
