Spanish Summer – Sarah + Kurt – Frida’s Field Wedding

Our super lovely couple Sarah and Kurt (best known as @sarahs_day and @kjtilse) travelled up from Sydney to celebrate their wedding in one of their favourite holiday destinations, Byron Bay.

Although we hit a logistical speedbump with their original venue, we were able to assist with changing venues mid-way through the planning to the stunning Frida’s Field. With an architecturally-designed barn, exposed timber rafters and sprawling gardens, it turned out to be the perfect hinterland backdrop for their nuptials.

We always adore getting stuck into a creative brief, and Sarah and Kurt’s vision was no exception. The inspiration from the couple was “Spanish Summer” vibes, with a rich earthy palette of terracotta, peach and burnt orange with hints of mustard and pink.

On the day itself, we had to implement a wet-weather plan due to rain, but Sarah and Kurt were completely unphased – taking it all in their stride so beautifully as we styled a dreamy Sperry tent on the lawn for their ceremony. Timber bench seats were paired with an oversized floral arch, spilling with textured foliage, earthy blooms and citrus fruits to add depth and detail. With views of the Byron Bay hinterland behind them, it was a picturesque start to their celebration.

After a sweet ceremony (and the perfect confetti moment!), guest’s mingled outside for cocktail hour before moving indoors for an intimate sit-down dinner. The vibe in the barn was cosy and romantic, filled with spectacular florals, organic mixed textures and a warm colour palette. Long tables with oatmeal cloths and walnut bentwood chairs were styled underneath an incredible sea of hanging foliage and drop-down pendant lights. Tablescapes were lush and full, adorned with unstructured floral centrepieces, terracotta napkins, blush pillar candles and amber glassware for a subtle pop of colour. And for a personal touch, guests receive cute test tubes of tea for their favours at each place setting, handmade by Sarah herself.

As the sun set over the hinterland, the barn came to life with speeches, laughter, and plenty of dancing – the very best kind of celebration!
