Sam and Pete are one of those couples with that obvious, can’t-get-enough-of-each other kinda love. Their genuine respect and adoration for one another made planning and styling their Byron Bay wedding an absolute privilege, and a memory we won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
After a slight hiccup 6 months prior to the wedding with their original venue falling through, Sam and Pete chose The Orchard Estate in the Byron Bay hinterland to host their low-key celebrations. It was clearly apparent from our first meeting that this wouldn’t be your traditional “white and green” wedding! Instead, Sam had a strong preference for darker tones, rich reds, and bold, impactful colours. We loved this creative brief and really used these colours as our inspiration when styling each element of their day.
A timber herringbone wall featuring laser-cut signage and lush tropical foliage became a focal point for Sam and Pete’s ceremony, with sweeping views of the hinterland as their backdrop. In one of our favourite memories of the day, Sam and her dad shared a heartfelt few minutes as they waited inside the barn to make their entrance. With happy tears in their eyes, it was an emotional moment that reminded us how incredibly lucky we are to do what we do!
Following a moving, heart-warming ceremony, we created a relaxed cocktail hour on the lawn for guests to mingle with drinks in hand as they basked outside in the sunshine. We chose a mix of modern furniture in monochromatic tones to fill the space, scattered together around a vintage silver Airstream caravan. Timber dry bars were paired with black tolix stools while contemporary lounge settings created cosy corners for guests to relax under garden umbrellas and strings of festoons.
Inside the barn, we created a moody, tropical oasis for an intimate dinner reception. Long feasting tables featured matte black tableware, gold cutlery and jewel-toned florals in textured vessels, as lush foliage arrangements hung from above amongst oversized woven baskets. Tablescapes were filled with creative and elegant details, from clear perspex menus with black typography to sweet ‘thank you’ cards waiting at each place setting – a thoughtful, heartfelt gesture from the bride and groom.
The overall ambience of the barn was bold, colourful and brought to life with plenty of botanical styling. Tropical plants in an eclectic mix of pots were clustered in the corners of the barn, while a white wire backdrop displayed neon signage and vibrant blooms. All in all, it was an incredibly impactful space that set the tone perfectly for a night of festive celebrations.
Working with a couple so wrapped up in their love for one another is every wedding planners dream, allowing us to create a day that really showcased Sam + Pete’s beautiful relationship.
