Modern Boho – Sam + Nathan – The Orchard Estate Wedding

Collaboration with our couples is at the heart of what we do. When Sam and Nathan first reached out to us just 4 months prior to their day, the connection was instantaneous – and the collaboration process that followed was one of our favourite parts about our journey with this seriously lovely couple.

Coffee catch ups turned into 3-hour planning sessions as we bounced ideas around for their Byron Bay wedding, with a shared obsession for the finer details. Sam and Nathan had a modern, boho-luxe vision in mind for their nuptials, wanting to create a day filled with earthy textures, mixed materials and a pop of colour throughout their styling.

In the week leading up to Sam & Nathan’s day, we were hit with torrential rain and an 80% forecast for the day itself – but our brave bride and groom put their trust in our hands completely, as we set to work bringing their dream wedding to life at the picturesque Orchard Estate.

With the stunning Byron Bay hinterland as our backdrop, we used feathery pampas grass and moroccan textiles for an ethereal ceremony setting. Cloud-like pampas tufts spilled from tarnished tin vessels and created a lush round arbour, as we completed the look with natural wooden bench seats and a petal-strewn aisle.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to a luxe cocktail hour in the barn styled with a modern eclectic mix of materials. We curated a selection of contemporary furnishings, pairing earthy textures of timber, leather and rattan with rich velvet ottomans, cowhide rugs and neon signage.

Out on the lawn, an intimate tropical sanctuary was created with long wooden tables set underneath a custom-built timber structure, inspired by Sam & Nathan’s love of al fresco dining. Oversized palm fronds, magnolia leaves and muted foliage in autumnal tones of sage and terracotta hung from above, framing the setting amongst woven basket lights.

We focused on subtle, beautiful details for Sam & Nathan’s tablescape styling, keeping them elegant but unstructured. Stone vases were filled with deep, moody blooms in blush, apricot and burgundy, as we layered place settings with soft linen napkins and copper cutlery. With rain forecasted to hit just after dinner, guests moved inside for dancing and speeches as we packed down the entire setting – ready to reset the very next day for a memorable recovery party complete with a slip and slide, fancy dress and a reverse ceremony.

The whole weekend was filled with so much fun for both Sam, Nathan and their incredible bunch of guests, and we’ll forever look back on the day with the fondest of memories.
