Opulence – Jenna + Paul – Byron Bay Wedding

Something that we are continually humbled by is the incredible amount of faith and confidence our couples have in us, as they happily trust our team to bring their dream day to life. Our sweet Jenna and Paul were no exception, allowing us to take the reigns as we created a vibrant and colourful celebration to remember in Byron Bay.

Jenna and Paul gave us a few details to work with at the beginning of our journey – they loved the idea of a clear marquee reception filled with native blooms, pops of colour, and brass details. Our styling for the day focused on highlighting these key elements, to create one seriously beautiful wedding in the hinterland.

With grey skies looming overhead all morning, we set to work creating an intimate ceremony space. Tropical palms and colourful blooms wrapped around an earthy wooden arbour, as white bentwood chairs contrasted against the lush green backdrop of the venue. Metallic accents added a contemporary and luxe feel to the space, with brushed gold vases sitting atop modern wire tables at both sides of the aisle.

Just as guests moved to take their seat, the grey skies opened up and rain showered down – every bride’s worst nightmare! But in a true testament to the relaxed nature of our couple, they were entirely unphased as we shuffled everybody inside to wait out the rain, with drinks in hand and the most upbeat attitudes despite the weather. Nearly two hours later, Jenna and Paul finally tied the knot in a beautiful heartfelt ceremony that was truly worth the wait.

The evening continued with a marquee reception overlooking the Byron Bay hinterland, filled with gorgeous details at every turn. We incorporated plenty of colour into the design, from deep navy hues to bright magenta, blush pink and bold orange tones. The whitewashed floorboards and clear marquee walls allowed our styling to really shine through, creating a fun, festive ambience inside the marquee.

Tablescapes were filled with elegant details, as crystal-cut glassware and perspex menus complemented statement navy napkins. Vibrant floral arrangements complete with oversized proteas and earthy native blooms juxtaposed against delicate peonies and brushed gold vessels. Raw candles were framed by copper lanterns, while sweet donut favours by Tome sat at each place setting for guests to devour. We tied the look together with plenty of lush greens, as tropical potted plants filled the space and monstera-leaf motifs added a personal touch to the stationery and signage.

We’ll never forget rummaging for last-minute treasures in the garage at the property (20 minutes prior to the wedding!) and stumbling across authentic cowhide rugs that became one of the most memorable elements of the day, as we quickly assembled a bohemian-inspired vignette at the entrance to the marquee. With shell chandeliers hanging overhead amidst strings of fairy lights and giant bunches of tropical greenery, it’s safe to say that guests spent the evening celebrating in style!
