Jasmine and Jason’s relaxed Gold Coast wedding was a day filled with fun, creative details, bespoke styling, and personal touches that resonated throughout each moment of their celebration.
Being Aussies living in New York at the time, we worked closely with Jasmine and Jason purely through phone calls and email chats for nearly a year before actually meeting in person much closer to the date. Our creative couple put their trust in us completely from abroad, even booking their venue sight unseen and only seeing the space for the very first time just weeks out from their nuptials.
Jasmine and Jason’s original style brief was inspired by the eclectic, festival vibes of Coachella, complete with custom signage, wild florals and neon lights. Following an unexpected venue change, we tweaked the concept slightly to reflect their new poolside location, creating a modern island-luxe feel for their cocktail celebration in the Gold Coast hinterland.
Ceremony styling was kept simple and unstructured against the most incredible natural backdrop, with foliage garlands weaving down bamboo chairs and an oversized floral arch bursting with olive leaf, feathery pampas grass and white blooms.
We played on Jasmine and Jason’s sweet matching tattoos with custom neon crowns nestled amongst the foliage – a motif we continued to feature throughout different styling elements on the day. In an emotional ceremony, Jasmine and Jason customised their proceedings to reflect their beliefs in marriage equality for all – acknowledging Jasmine’s sister and her partner, and their excitement for the day when all people could celebrate their love. Needless to say, there were no dry eyes to be seen!
For reception styling, we kept colours minimal and earthy with hints of deep navy blue, subtle gold accents and natural textures of rattan and bamboo. Relaxed cocktail settings were scattered by the pool, framed by lush hinterland surrounds and simple strings of festoon lights. Seagrass umbrellas were paired with director stools, bamboo tables, rattan armchairs and clusters of plants in woven baskets for a resort-meets-festival feel, with oversized white balloons floating dreamily in the pool as a beautiful focal feature.
In one of our favourite moments from the evening, we led guests down a festoon-lit pathway to an epic dance tent below, complete with a live band and glowing neon lights. It was a completely unexpected moment for friends and family, and we loved watching the atmosphere come to life as they spent the evening dancing in the field underneath the stars – the perfect way to wrap up an incredible afternoon of celebrations!
