European Romance – Monique + Alex – Deux Belettes Wedding

Our sweet couple Monique and Alex (co-founder of the hugely successful HiSmile brand) recently tied the knot with a European-inspired wedding at Deux Belettes in the Byron Bay hinterland. Their happiness and love for each other was completely contagious and reminded us of why we truly love weddings!

Having previously worked with Alex’s brother, we instantly connected with these two and immediately felt like part of the family. Taking place at one of our favourite Byron Bay wedding venues – the extraordinary Deux Belettes – our brief was to create a classic European feel with particular attention to the finer details.

Monique and Alex were happy to be guided by us on creating their vision – and with a stunning backdrop to work with, we couldn’t wait to design something special for them. We opted for a timeless neutral palette of creamy ivory, crisp whites and fresh greenery, with subtle pastel accents to tie the styling details together.

On the day itself, we had to implement a back-up marquee for the ceremony – but to their credit, Monique and Alex weren’t phased in the slightest and trusted us completely to make it work. We styled the marquee with luxurious velvet and gold chairs, and created a modern ceremony backdrop using a trio of white arches adorned with the most beautiful white florals. Although it may have been our Plan B, the rain ended up creating the perfect moody vibe for their nuptials, complete with an incredible string quartet playing in the background as Monique made her entrance.

As loved ones enjoyed canapes and cocktails amongst the cobblestone courtyards of Deux Belettes, we created an elegant marquee reception using round tables with floor length cloths and floral centrepieces in hues of blush, apricot and dusty pink. Paying special attention to the finer details, we layered sage green ceramic plates with oatmeal linen napkins, gold cutlery and crystal glassware from the amazing team at Table for Louis – sitting pretty underneath hanging florals, pendant globes and strings of twinkling fairy lights. Not to mention the incredible cake by our talented friend Marina Machado, surrounded by a display of flowers spilling from clear plinths – an absolute highlight for guests (and us!).

Throughout the day, Monique and Alex were so incredibly kind to everyone involved and couldn’t stop smiling at one another – truly the loveliest couple who deserved every moment of their celebration.
