Mediterranean Meets Byron – Alyssa + Alistair – Raes on Wategos Wedding

Alyssa and Alistair celebrated their love with a luxe destination wedding at iconic Byron Bay venue, Raes on Wategos – and their day was nothing short of spectacular.

With a shared love for bold colours and beautiful details, Alyssa + Alistair wanted to create a Byron-meets-Mediterranean vibe to complement the aesthetics of the venue. Overlooking the dreamy Wategos Beach, we designed their day around a vibrant colour palette of coral, melon, apricot and blush, paired with plenty of crisp whites and earthy timbers.

The day began with an outdoor ceremony in the Raes courtyard, with the venue’s textured white walls and sweeping coastal views creating the perfect Mediterranean-inspired backdrop. Elegant rows of bentwood chairs were adorned with colourful floral clouds, while the altar was framed by an oversized floral arch sitting pretty in terracotta pots.

Inside the restaurant, we opted for an ambience of understated elegance, creating an intimate dining area for guests to feast on the famous Rae’s menu. Rustic timber tables were paired with European bentwoods, while place settings were kept clean and minimal. In a nod to our coastal location, we incorporated a pop of navy blue into the stationery and glassware, contrasting beautifully with the bright pink hues of our floral centrepieces. With Alyssa, Alistair and their loved ones travelling from the US for their nuptials, we also used sweet luggage tags which doubled as wedding favours and place cards at each setting.

While guests sipped cocktails and soaked up the golden Byron Bay sunset, the outdoor courtyard was transformed into an oceanside dance floor. White bar tables and bentwood stools were scattered underneath strings of festoon lighting, adorned with clam shells spilling with colourful blooms and citrus fruits. And to kick off the evening’s festivities? Alyssa and Alistair surprised their guests with an incredible mariachi band during cocktail hour (making the cutest entrance as they walked down the streets of Byron!).
