Jasmin & Alex: The Calile Hotel Wedding, Brisbane
Some weddings have a feeling you can’t quite put into words. Jasmin and Alex’s was one of them.

Planning a wedding is a lot. Planning one interstate is a whole other thing entirely. Jasmin and Alex are Melbourne-based, and from their very first call with us, we knew this was going to be something special. That conversation set the tone for everything that followed – personal, considered, and built entirely around the things they loved most.
From the very beginning, the vision was clear – romantic, European, elevated. Think Reine à La Rue, but at one of Brisbane’s most iconic hotels. French in its soul, luxurious in every detail, and entirely their own.

The Bride.
Jasmin wore a custom Steven Khalil gown – intricate lace panels, an off-the-shoulder neckline, long lace sleeves and a sweeping train that pooled across the travertine floors of The Calile. A lace-trimmed mantilla veil completed the look. Steven himself was there on the morning to dress her – a moment as special as the gown itself.

The Ceremony.
The ceremony was planned for The Calile’s rooftop – and when the weather had other plans, we moved quickly and calmly. The covered ceremony space we pivoted to was so beautiful, it didn’t feel like a compromise for a single second. Lush climbing vines set the scene overhead. Emerald green velvet chairs lined the aisle, flanked by generous white floral arrangements – hydrangeas, garden roses and soft greenery spilling from white ceramic vessels. Romantic, considered, and entirely intentional.

The Reception.
This is where things got really special.
The Calile Hotel’s ballroom is not, by nature, an intimate space. When Jasmin first came to us, she was nervous – she hadn’t seen a single wedding in that room she loved. Our brief was to make it feel like a restaurant – warm, layered and alive. She trusted us completely, and we had her vision from day one.
We brought in low-hanging drum pendant lights that transformed the ceiling entirely, mixing king tables and round tables to break up the formality of the room. Emerald green velvet dining chairs were paired with neutral gold chairs, and every table was dressed with lush, abundant florals – blush hydrangeas, pink tulips, garden roses, fuchsia orchids and trailing green amaranthus over neutral linen. Gold table lamps added warmth and intimacy to every corner. We worked with The Calile’s own folder menus, customising the insides to feel cohesive and considered — a small detail that made a big difference to the overall restaurant feel.
The result was exactly what Jasmin had imagined – warm, stylish and intimate. A dinner party atmosphere in one of Brisbane’s most celebrated wedding venues.

The Moment.
Instead of a traditional cake cutting, Jasmin and Alex had a mille-feuille made live during their reception by the talented Marina Machado – and then iced it together in front of their guests. It was joyful, playful and completely them. The kind of moment that had the whole room talking. Honestly, one of our favourite wedding moments ever.

A Note From Jasmin.
“Our reception space is essentially a conference room, which made me nervous because we hadn’t seen a single wedding there we liked. But Rach completely understood our vision from day one. We wanted it to feel like a restaurant: warm, intimate, and stylish. The Events Lounge team created the most stunning dinner-party atmosphere, and it exceeded anything I had imagined. When the weather forced us to move the ceremony, Rach stayed calm and reassuring. The backup plan was executed so beautifully, it didn’t feel like a compromise at all. One moment I’ll never forget: on our wedding day, I saw her smiling just as much as we were –because she could see how happy we were, and that made her happy. That says everything.”

Jasmin and Alex – from that very first phone call to watching you both light up the room all night, it was the most beautiful honour to be part of your day at The Calile Hotel Brisbane. This one will stay with us for a long time.
